AAC assessment and practical support
Augmentative and alternative communication, or AAC, is a central part of our work. We support people who are exploring communication systems and those who already use one, with assessment, practical implementation and coaching for the people around them.
You can come to us to explore AAC, ask for help with an existing system, or arrange coaching for family members, carers or staff. Our work can include paper-based communication, communication books, devices and apps. The starting point is the person’s communication needs and daily life.
Support for children and families
We offer speech and language therapy shaped around each child’s strengths, needs and everyday environments. Support can include assessment, an individual therapy plan, direct sessions, resources and advice for parents, carers and education staff.
We support children with speech and language difficulties, speech sound disorders, developmental language disorder, autism and social communication needs, and selective mutism. We also support reluctant talkers and children who use AAC. We discuss the right practitioner and approach for each enquiry.
Sessions may take place at home, in an educational setting or online, depending on the work involved. You can read the private-client fees and packages before getting in touch.
Adults with learning disabilities
We also work with adults with learning disabilities and complex communication needs, including people who use AAC. Support considers the individual and the family members, carers and professionals who communicate with them.
Abi’s experience includes work across paediatric and adult learning disability services, autism and brain injury. Meet the team to learn about each practitioner’s background.
Schools and educational settings
We work collaboratively with schools and other educational settings, bringing communication support into the environments where students learn and spend their day. Our offer includes advice and training for the adults around the individual, alongside assessment and therapy.

Case management
We work with case managers to provide detailed communication assessments and interventions that fit the person’s wider rehabilitation and support plan. We discuss the individual’s needs, the setting and the work required before agreeing the service.

You do not need to know which service to choose before contacting us. Get in touch with a brief outline of who the support is for, what you would like help with and your location. We can discuss whether our service fits your needs and explain the appropriate next step.
